Brian Gilbert is a native New Orleanian, a 1982 Isidore Newman School graduate, and recipient of a B.A. in political science from the University of New Orleans. He graduated from Loyola University School of Law in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Mr. Gilbert has been in practice since 1992, is admitted to all State and Federal courts in Louisiana, and has also practiced in State and Federal courts in Alabama, Mississippi, and Texas. He has attained numerous favorable district court and appellate decisions for his clients.
He has extensive, successful experience as a civil and appellate litigator in the areas of commercial and construction litigation, general casualty and insurance defense, professional liability defense, defense of errors and omissions, indemnification and subrogation disputes, insurance coverage, complex litigation, mass torts, and class actions.
He favors complex, multi-party litigation involving challenging factual and legal issues. For years he represented more than twenty-thousand persons and businesses affected by Hurricane Katrina flooding, and served in Federal Court as Master Liaison/Lead Counsel in related mass tort litigation. He has argued numerous legal questions of first impression before state and federal appellate courts.
He maintains various professional affiliations including the Louisiana State Bar Association, New Orleans Bar Association, 22nd Judicial District Court Bar Association, Jefferson Bar Association, Defense Research Institute, DRI Medical Liability and Healthcare Law, Greater New Orleans Defense Counsel, and the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel.
Mr. Gilbert lives very happily with his wonderful wife and their two amazing children. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, science fiction, relaxing on the beach, and get-togethers with friends, family, and colleagues.
